What is the healthiest way to lose weight and keep if off for good?


I am in my late 30s and I want to be healthy as I get older and I wanted to know what is the healthiest way to lose weight and keep it off for good, what excersizes can you do to reach the healthy goal of weight loss, for those of you that lost a lot of weight 40 pounds or more what were healthy ways that you lost weight and how did you keep it off without gaining it back?

I lost 55 lbs. in 6 mo's. I had just returned from Germany and Paris where I walked everywhere and still ate normal foods. When I got home I had lost 10 lbs.
Then I bought nothing but Lean Cuisine for dinner and a yogurt smoothie for breakfast and drank a lot of water.If I ate lunch at all it was fresh veggies.
I got down to 96 lbs and now my family is yelling at me to stop!!!
So I've gained back to 100 which is where I want to stay since I;m 5' tall.
I really believe in Lean Cuisine, the food is fresh and very good. Don't drink sodas and walk every chance you can.
It worked great for me Good luck.

Losing weight: Healthy ways, and unhealthy ways…?


I have been curious. There are many ways to lose weight. Taking your time and losing it in a healthy way, or attempting to try to get the easy way out and lose it quickly in an unhealthy manner.
Name as many as you can?

okay my easy way outs….wow lol here they go:
atkins-great diet in the start, horrible in the end you end up gaining more than what you started with
weight loss pills-don't work at all, "eat whatever you want and still loose weight" highly doubt it, maybe with calories

the healthy ways
weight watchers-not really healthy but it does help loose weight, there's tricks to it.
exercising & counting calories- which is what i'm doing now and boy does it work :) lost over 20 lbs in a month and a half or so

What are some god ways to lose weight in a healthy way?

I'm 15, 5'8, and 130 pounds. I want to get my weight down to 120 pounds. So I'm wanting to lose 10 pounds. I want to know some good foods to eat, and some good exercising methods.
I DO NOT want to take pills.

NO junk food please fresh fruits veggies lean meats fish Good attitude Visualize yourself thin Walk everyday swim avoid the elevator DO the stairs be happy

i need some fast ways to get rid of the weight without going crazy at the gym and without starving myself

1. Drink plenty of water. Our body needs a lot of water so give in to water. Water is not just way to flush out toxin but if you have more water in your body you will generally feel healthier and fitter. This it self will discourage any tendency to gorge. The best thing about water is that is has no calories at all.

2. Start your day with a glass of water. As soon as you wake up, gulp down a glass of cool water. It’s a wonderful way to start you day and you only need a lesser quantity of your breakfast drink after that. A glass of water lets out all your digestive juices and sort of lubricates the insides of your body. You may have your morning cup of tea but have it after a glass of water. It is good for you.

3. Drink a glass of water before you start the meal. Water naturally needs some space so that you feel fuller without actually having to stuff yourself.

4. Have another glass of water while you are having the meal. Again this is another way of making yourself full so that you can actually rise from the table eating less but feeling full just the same. Instead of drinking it one gulp, take sips after each morsel. It will help the food to settle faster so that you get that feeling that you are full faster. SIDENOTE: Water is such a remarkable thing, but seldom do we give it the credit that it deserves. Did you know that over 66% of your body weight is nothing but water’ It’s amazing! Water also plays a vital role in weight control, which is why I donated so much space to it, above.

5. Stay away from sweetened bottle drinks, especially sodas. Hey all those colas and fizzy drinks are sweetened with sugar and sugar means calories. The more you can cut out on these sweetened bottle drinks, the better for you. So if you must drink sodas, then stick to diet sodas.

6. Include in your diet things that contain more water like tomatoes and watermelons. These things contain 90 to 95 % water so that there is nothing that you have to lose by feasting on them. They fill you up without adding to the pounds.

7. Eat fresh fruit instead of drinking fruit juice. Juice is often sweetened but fresh fruits have natural sugars. When you eat fruit, you are taking in a lot of fiber, which is needed by the body, and fruits of course are an excellent source of vitamins.

8. If you do have a craving for fruit juice then go for fresh fruit juice instead of these that contain artificial flavors and colors. Or even better, try making your own fruit juice taking care not to sweeten it with too many calories.

9. Choose fresh fruit to processed fruits. Processed and canned fruits do not have as much fiber as fresh fruit and processed and canned fruits are nearly always sweetened.

10. Increase your fiber intake. Like I mentioned, the body needs a lot of fiber. So try to include in your diet as many fruits and vegetables as you can.

11. Go crazy on vegetables. Vegetables are your best bet when it comes to losing pounds. Nature has a terrific spread when it comes to choosing vegetables. And the leafy green vegetables are your best bet. Try to include a salad in you diet always

Ways to lose weight, the healthy way?

So, I'm 5' 3 and 15.5lbs.
I want to try to be somewhere between 105-110.
Isn't the healthy way 2lbs a week? Or 1lb a week?
I'd also like to know how many calories I'm supposed to eat.

Thanks in advance!

Eat whole foods:

Beans, brown rice, whole grain cereals
Cut out the fat
Cut out the sugar
Min of two fruits per day
No refined carbs (white bread, white pasta..high in calories)
Don't let yourself go hungry
Lots of water
No dairy, no meat…..they're a lie.

The idea is to fill up on food that is lower in caloric density. For example, a large bake potato (minus the butter, sour cream, cheese, bacon bits, etc) has only about 100 calories and is very filling. But that bag of chips has 350 and you still want something else to eat. It works. You will go through withdrawal for meat, cheese, sugar, fat, etc but it will go away in a couple weeks while you retrain your taste buds to enjoy healthy plant foods.
